Zoo Fun Run | Saturday, May 25
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
This is the wildest kids race in town. The one mile race starts at 10 a.m. and all runners get a free train ride. Have lunch at the Safari Cafe and stay to see how a real fire truck works, go inside a police car, plus other great surprises. This race is organized by Lincoln Fire and Rescue. Arrive early the day of the race to register or pre register here .
Runza Reading Day | Saturday, June 1
10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Celebrate the importance of literacy as your favorite children’s books come to life at Lincoln Children’s Zoo. Sponsored by Runza, this special day of learning features local celebrities reading their favorite children’s stories. Readers include Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, the Lincoln Chief of Police, Lincoln Fire Chief, Channel 8 News Anchor, Homer Hound, and the Zoo President. Many more great children’s stories will be read by volunteers throughout the day. The first 750 participating kids get an activity bag and one free train ride. Other fun activities include a scavenger hunt for a mystery book title around the zoo, coloring contest, and more. After listening to stories, explore the Zoo to interact with over 300 animals.
