- Considered the top predator of Madagascar
- Only Carnivore whose diet consists mostly of primates
- Related to the mongoose family
- Litters range from one to six pups, which are born blind and toothless
- Looks cat-like, but is part of the Eupleridae family, not the Felidae (feline)
- Can climb up and down trees head first with semi-retractable claws
