Children at the Zoo Program (CATZ) Help Send at-risk kids to the Zoo

You Can Help Put Smiles On Children's Faces!
Many of us know the eager looks of anticipation and the feel of a child’s tug on our hand each time we visit the zoo. It seems as though children can barely stand to wait even one minute for a parent or grandparent to tuck their wallets away before they go racing down the path to the Critter Encounter area! Unfortunately, that scene doesn’t play out for 1,000’s of children in our community because their families face difficult economic and social situations.
That’s why the Children At The Zoo, or CATZ program was put into place - to provide free admission passes to the zoo for “at-risk” children and their families. Last year the zoo received over 6,000 requests from over 50 local social service agencies to provide free passes for these kids.
For every $7.00 you contribute to the CATZ program, one at risk child will have the opportunity to experience the zoo and ride the train. $70 will underwrite 10 children, $140 will underwrite 20, and $700 will underwrite 100 children. This seems a small price for a big day of exploration, discovery and adventure of learning firsthand!
So go ahead, designate a gift to the CATZ program! Your donation will go along way in sending the communities at-risk children on wild adventures! Contact Rachelle Humiston for more information.
Individuals, foundations, and corporations are invited to contact us about making a gift to support the Zoo's mission of conservation, education, and research.
Our Development Office can provide you with information on the many giving opportunities available at the Zoo and offer suggestions as to which programs are in need of support. Get more information by clicking on the buttons to your left, or click here for contact information.
Your donation is tax deductible.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Zoo is a private, not-for-profit organization which does not depend upon any city or state funding for its operating expenses. We have been a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization since 1967, and your donation is tax deductible. We are one of only a handful of zoos in the United States that is entirely funded by user fees, donations, grants, and other charitable contributions.
