The Lincoln Children’s Zoo is the number one family attraction in Lincoln with nearly 200,000 visitors a year. Its 7.5 acres is home to more than 300 animals, many of them rare and endangered.
The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for overseeing the food and beverage functions of the Zoo. They are the responsible for controlling the overall food costs and quality for the Rainforest Café. They will also oversee Facility Rental and Birthday Party Programs. This position is a year-round full time position.
Recruits, trains, supervises, schedules and coordinates Café Staff
Develop and implement menu offerings and pricing based on competition, market trends, costs, etc.
Responsible for administering the department’s budget
Developing and tracking key performance indicators
Evaluate food and beverage service quality and service levels regularly and implement strategies to improve areas of concern.
Ensure highest food quality and standards.
Responsible for managing the inventory, this includes inventory selection, control, and loss management
Develops, implements, budgets for and evaluates new revenue generating opportunities
Facilitates relationships between the Zoo and its suppliers/vendors
Oversee the café’s operation - menu costing, planning and implementation, waste and quality management
Recruit, schedule and oversee Facility Rentals
Oversee the new snack kiosk
Oversee the birthday party program – set the seasons prices, develop the program, oversee the scheduling and execution
Work with the Director of Strategic Communications to improve the guest experience and maintain consistent brand imaging.
Previous experience in food service management
Demonstrated ability to interact with and positively influence others to contribute to organizational effectiveness
Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate personnel to meet Zoo objectives
Demonstrated ability to work independently with little supervision
Good written and verbal communication skills are essential
Work schedule varies and will include weekend, evening and holiday work. This department supports other special events when requested.
